Understanding your dog's nature is key to successfully resolving dog behavior issues. The focus is on evaluation, training and Pack Leadership, empowering people to create a balanced /natural relationship with their canine companions. ln my opinion, all dogs benefit when their people are pack leaders, providing calm, assertive leadership, and helping the dog confidently navigate the world we have created. I've obtained excellent results with some very problematic dogs using immersion therapy.
Please read "Understanding Your Dog" (below) to see if my philosophy makes sense to you.

Believe it or not, 98% of all dog DNA is that of their ancestors....wolves! Don't believe me? Look at "T Rex" the little Chihuahua. He's never had a territory and couldn't defend it if he did! He's neutered, and can no longer breed. He doesn't hunt. In fact, he has his meals delivered to him daily. Yet, he compulsively marks an imaginary territory, and even strives to achieve "top ranking" as impossible as that might be for little Rex! That's one of several wolf behaviors all dogs exhibit!
WOLF 101 (Stay with me!) Wolves live in packs. A lone wolf is in a life threatening position and is looking for a mate, or a pack that will accept it. The pack is led by the alpha male and female, who mate for life. They are usually the only members of the pack that breed, and the pups are raised in a den chosen by their mother. The other members assist in hunting, guarding the territory, and even puppy day care! After the hunt, the alpha pair eat first, then allow other members to eat, in order of a specific hierarchy. The survival of the pack depends upon this order. So…how does all of this apply to your dog? Dogs still yearn for that pack order, especially in our world, which they can't fully comprehend. This is why it’s necessary for you to assume the role of pack leader. That leadership will make your dog more confident, and happier, enabling them to thrive in this world we have created. Often, bad behavior like aggression is fear based and will cease once your dog has confidence in you as Pack Leader.
Dogs have two operating systems. The first is influenced by that wolf DNA. The second is developed through selective breeding, used to enable dogs to do jobs like; herd and protect livestock, assist hunters, guide the blind, police work, etc.. Though all dogs have wolf DNA, this second operating system makes working with a Border Collie different than a Labrador (for example). If the dog has experienced trauma or extended isolation, that adds another variable. That’s why keen evaluation is required to successfully correct behavioral issues.

I've worked with dogs for decades, and have a unique ability to understand, and instill trust in them. Organizations I've been affiliated with include:
Guide Dogs for The Blind, Maddie's Rescue and several humane societies. I've managed kennels, worked with veterinary offices, and groomers.
Pack leadership requires training. However, the main emphasis of my practice is on behavior modification. Hence the name: My Dog Has "Issues"! I work with issues that many canine trainers are not equipped to deal with.
